Yesterday Citrix announced a definitive agreement to acquire mobile device management (MDM) leader Zenprise. It’s an exciting combination between two product innovators, and will result in the industry’s most comprehensive solution for enterprise mobility.
Enterprise mobility is a top IT priority. According to a recent Forrester study, a majority of CIOs have or will have a BYO (bring your own) policy for smartphones and tablets in the next 12 months. The combined Citrix and Zenprise offering will allow IT organizations to securely enable and manage mobile devices, applications and data, all from a single integrated product line.
We invested in Zenprise in September 2011. Industry veteran Amit Pandey joined earlier this year as CEO, and had begun rapidly scaling Zenprise. The company was founded by Waheed Qureshi (CTO), and Jayaram Bhat.
Under Amit ‘s leadership, Zenprise was growing rapidly. There was an introductory meeting with Citrix, where there was a very strong meeting of the minds. Zenprise had been focused on building an independent company, but realized that they shared a common vision with Citrix, and that combining forces now would result in the industry’s most comprehensive product line.
It’s been a privilege to work with the Zenprise board and leadership team over the last 15 months, to help build and grow Zenprise in a fast-moving market. Yesterday’s announcement just changed the landscape for enterprise mobility. Millions of employees around the globe can now bring their tablets and smartphones to work! Congratulations to the Zenprise and Citrix teams. We’ll be cheering for your joint success from the sidelines.
