Director of Talent

Aki Taha joined Greylock in 2009 as Director of Talent. In this role he works to identify and cultivate the top emerging product management, engineering and design talent in Silicon Valley on behalf of Greylock and its portfolio companies. He also partners with portfolio companies to help them develop their internal teams, and advises them on broader human resources issues.

Aki brings a wealth of experience in building world-class teams for technology companies, and broad HR expertise in talent and development programs. Prior to joining Greylock, Aki spent four years at Google, where he held a variety of human resources roles. Most recently he was a senior human resources manager, providing HR support to a global, 700-employee organization, and running talent management, training, development, and compensation programs for the group.

Fluent in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, Aki led recruiting for the international staffing team from Mountain View and helped open and build Google’s offices in the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions. Aki moved to Beijing and led staffing for the Greater China region, where he was instrumental in expanding the employee ranks to 500 people in two years.

Previously Aki was the human resources and finance manager for Doctors Without Borders in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He managed all human resources issues for the non-profit’s four medical sites in that country as well as their budgets and project accounting. Earlier, Aki was a recruiting manager at Otec, a San Francisco-based recruitment firm that represented the offline operations of Hotjobs.com. Prior to that he worked in marketing at Trilogy Software in Austin, Texas.

Aki was born in Nigeria and grew up in New York. He graduated from Brown University where he studied Economics and International Relations.
