About
Dev joined Greylock in 2012, and his areas of focus are cloud services and enabling IT infrastructure. This includes big data, cloud computing, mobile, SaaS, social, storage, management and virtualization. Dev brings a strong background in entrepreneurship and operating experience as he founded two companies and also has managed large businesses.
Previously, Dev was the president of the Enterprise Service Management division of BMC Software, where he was responsible for a business with $1.4 billion in annual revenue and over 4,000 employees. During his tenure at BMC the company outperformed all relevant competition as measured by revenue growth and stock performance. Earlier, as the co-founder, president and CEO, Dev built BladeLogic into one of the fastest growing enterprise software companies of the last decade. Dev started the business in 2001, took BladeLogic public with a highly successful IPO in 2007, and sold BladeLogic to BMC for approximately $900M in 2008, which represented the highest multiple paid for any public software company that year. Even earlier, Dev was a pioneer in cloud computing as the co-founder, president & CEO of Applica, one of the first venture backed cloud computing companies. Applica merged with Breakaway Solutions and went public in 1999. Dev spent the early part of his career working in both large and growth stage telecommunications companies developing and leading businesses focused on advanced broadband services.
Dev is a personal investor and a member of the board of directors of AppDynamics, AthenaHealth (Nasdaq: ATHN), and Bazaarvoice (Nasdaq: BV). Prior to joining Greylock Dev served as an advisor to a number of venture capital and private equity firms as well as CEOs of many early stage technology companies.
Dev received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University, was awarded the Medal of Excellence, and was recognized by the School of Engineering as its 2010 Alumnus of the Year.
